The Best 3 Burner Gas Grills in 2020

It is not hard to notice that three burners in a gas grill is the most popular configuration on the market.

It is a fact that every manufacturer has a 3 burner gas grill in their offer, so there’s a lot to choose from.

Personally, I recommend such number of burners in a grill to beginners who don’t know what will be right for them. I believe that such number is universal and gives plenty of benefits at just a slightly higher price compared to the two burner versions for example.

Three independently controlled burners make it possible to create three different heat zones – that’s a huge advantage.

Out of all the options on the market, I decided to only pick several best 3 burner gas grills. Take a careful look at them and decide for yourself which of them will best suit your expectations.

The Best 3 Burner Gas Grills: Detailed Reviews

The three-burner configuration in a grill is available at different prices depending on the quality of workmanship and the manufacturer. No matter what budget and expectations, I think that most people can find something for themselves on my list.

1. Best Overall Weber Spirit II E-310

The Spirit II series has gained a huge renown among customers, becoming the best rated and one of the most purchased gas grills of recent years. It is available in two sizes, and their configuration mostly differs in the number of burners and the cooking area.

This review is for the three burner version which is Weber Spirit II E-310.

The three-burner gas grill from the Spirit II series offers a lot of cooking area ( 424 square inches of the main area ), it is about 15% more than in the two-burner version.

It’s a fairly simple grill where the manufacturer focused on the quality of workmanship and efficiency.

Extra gadgets were ditched in favor of better quality of workmanship and lower price. For most beginners, the price is the deciding factor so I think that it was a great choice on the manufacturer’s part.

Of course you can buy several accessories separately if you really like the grill. For example, a wireless thermometer that will make it possible to remotely monitor the temperature on the screen of a mobile device.

Three strong burners work great, making it possible to achieve a high temperature in a short time. Another advantage of having so many burners on such area is the ability to create three independent heat zones.

Another eye-catching thing is a completely different style of construction, the open cart design. Personally, I like this style, although I prefer closed constructions, but I do understand that this type of construction uses less materials and lowers the price of the grill.

PROS

  • The technology
  • 10 year warranty on all the elements
  • Good quality & efficiency

CONS

  • Thin lid

One also cannot deny the cooking convenience and mobility. Large side shelves provide a lot of work space, and the big, solid wheels make it possible to easily move the grill around.

It is without a doubt the best three burner gas grill that maintains the best price to quality ratio and an affordable price for beginners.

The good news is great warranty that allows to enjoy grilling for as long as 10 years. As an owner of this exact model, though, I believe that it can last much longer when in good hands.

2. Runner Up Weber Genesis II E-335

For those more demanding, I suggest Weber Genesis II E-335 which is a great alternative to the simple Spirit II series.

It is one of the biggest three burner gas grills on the market, which makes it a good option for a bigger family for example ( the Genesis II series offers even bigger models, such as the four burner version ).

The Weber Genesis II E-335 model combines high quality of workmanship and efficiency of burners with functionality.

Waiting for you under the lid is whole 513 square inches of the main grilling area, which is a lot.

The greatest advantage of this model is two additional burners that will surely be useful to everyone.

When it comes to the side burner, I don’t use it often and it’s nothing special, although it’s certainly useful. The sear burner, on the other hand, has become my favorite tool that allows me to easily give perfect sear marks without much effort.

Both burners are meant to attract potential customers and I have to admit they are worth the extra money.

I also really like the closed construction and I’m glad that you can choose between the open and closed one when it comes to the Genesis series.

PROS

  • Sear Station and Side Burner
  • Solid Grill with 10 years Warranty
  • Big Cooking Space & Style

CONS

  • Expensive but totally worth the money

You can see better attention to finer elements as well as the entirety of construction, which allows every model to be covered with whole 10 years of warranty, which is another strength.

The Genesis II series was created for those who expect something more than just a regular grill. The stylish, multi-functional construction and great features guarantee top-notch grilling.

When searching through the vast market, I couldn’t find a better three-burner grill, right now it is the number one. The price is among the higher ones here but I still believe that this grill is worth its money.

3. Budget Pick Dyna-Glo Smart Space Living

The next option is for those with a lower budget, this inexpensive three-burner gas grill turned out to be quite a surprise.

Most cheap options aren’t worth their price due to offering poor efficiency, quality and risk of malfunctions.

Dyna-Glo Smart Space Living is cheaper than Weber Spirit II E-310 by nearly a half while offering a similar capacity.

The main cooking area is 390 square inches which is quite a lot for the price.

The three burners, despite slightly lower power, can still handle such surface well.

The construction has everything that’s needed for convenient and effective grilling. Large side shelves provide a lot of work space, whereas the hooks and the space under the grill can store a lot of your accessories.

It is not a grill built to last many years, it is sadly not possible at this price range. I have to admit that there is quite a difference in quality, mostly in the thinner steel all over, which means that rust can appear pretty fast.

PROS

  • Inexpensive
  • Big Cooking Space
  • Decent quality for the money

CONS

  • No extra features

When buying a gas grill in this category, you should accept that flaws of this type are normal for that kind of money. If you don’t cook a lot and want to save as much as possible, it’s a good option. In terms of durability and quality, on the other hand, it can’t compare to my previous suggestions, it is simply a whole different league.

One can’t deny, however, that it is functional and convenient.

Dyna-Glo Smart Space Living stands out with its low price and good efficiency for this kind of money. It is not an investment for many years, but one has to admit that it works decently considering its price.

Buyers Guide

The three-burner grill configuration is among the most popular ones so there’s a lot to choose from. I limited my list of recommended 3 burner gas grills to the minimum, only choosing the best models – which are well known to very experienced people.

I also prepared several basic tips that beginners tend to forget about.

What to look for in a 3 burner gas grill

Budget – The price spectrum is quite huge, so it’s the best to start by defining the budget. It will make looking for a new grill shorter, because why check out  models that cost more than the specified budget.

Size – The size of the cooking area can really differ a lot depending on the model. A grill with the same number of burners can simply have a bigger power which allows the manufacturer to offer more space. The more expensive models where burners tends to be stronger can offer as much as about 20-30% more space than cheaper options.

Features – The functionality of a grill is a great thing but it usually costs a lot. You want to save some money? Choose the simplest model. If you have a bigger budget, however, and value interesting solutions then I recommend the Genesis II series from Weber with two dedicated burners ( sear burner and side burner ).

Durability and warranty – If you don’t have a chance to touch and see the grill with your own eyes to check the quality of workmanship then check out the warranty. It doesn’t always reflect the real quality, but most of the time when the manufacturer offers many years of warranty, the grill really is durable.

Mobility – You don’t have much space in your backyard or often move the grill around? In that case, check out if the grill you’re interested in has its construction designed with mobility in mind ( folding side shelves, wheels etc ).
