The 4 Best Gas Grills Under $300
1. Best Overall Char-Broil Performance 300
It only has 300 square inches for main grilling, on a cast-iron grate coated with porcelain. Above is a warming rack of 100 square inches in size.
A very visually pleasing lid is made of stainless steel. It means that Char-Broil Performance 300 is very durable.
In the center, there's a standard built-in thermometer.
There's an electronic ignition for firing up the grill fast.
There are only two burners, but the grill is small and it allows to heat up the grilling space in a short amount of time.
It has a decent amount of storage space located below the burner control panel. That's the place where you can hide your propane tank and some of the accessories.
Another important point are four wheels. Two of them can be locked, which guarantees good stability and mobility.
It is worth adding that you will also find a very good grease tray here. You can easily remove it in order to clean it or replace. It is coated with porcelain, which makes cleaning easier.
I have to admit that it's a small grill, but a very efficient one.
People often look for a grill with 3-4 burners without later using its potential. A better solution is choosing something smaller.
I think that in this price range and size it's the number one that is really worth your attention.
2. Portable Pick Weber Q2200
Weber Q2200 is popular because it's great for different adventures such as picnics or outdoor trips.
I put it on this list because you can buy a grilling cart that increases the comfort of cooking ( Q Portable Cart ).
That way it can work as a stationary grill for your backyard, while still having all the great features of a good portable gas grill.
Let's move on to the options and description of the construction.
The grill is equipped with one burner made of stainless steel that heats up 280 square inches of grilling space.
An electronic ignition and a built-in thermometer are located in the center of the lid.
The grates are made of cast-iron and coated with a porcelain enamel.
The entire body and the cover are made of aluminium ( the advantage here is that it doesn't rust ).
At the bottom you will find a grease tray that you can remove easily and quickly.
It is actually a great choice for the backyard, for an urban setting or for camping trip - It's small, handy and will easily fit in your car.
At the moment of publishing this page, out of 400 reviews 95% were positive, out of which about 85% was 5/5 - It shows how great this model is.
It is an incredibly efficient gas grill for a price under 300$. The quality is guaranteed and you can be sure that it will serve you for many years to come.
3. Coleman RoadTrip 285
An option for those who value mobility, although it can easily be used as a stationary grill as well.
The construction of Coleman RoadTrip 285 was designed with mobility, convenience and of course efficiency in mind.
It will certainly live up to expectations of those who travel or those with a small backyard.
The integrated stand can fold down, turning the entire grill into an easy to transport construction that resembles a suitcase.
What got me surprised was the number of burners under the lid, there is a whole three of them and each of them is controlled with a separate knob. That way you can create three zones with different temperatures or combine the power and warm up the entire grill’s surface very fast.
Another thing that I also liked a lot is the ability to replace the grill grates with stove grates or griddles ( sold separately ). It increases the simple grill’s abilities significantly, making it a versatile cooking device.
In practice, everything works very well and I am pleased with the results of cooking. Three strong burners are great at achieving the right temperature for grilling fast.
I am not quite impressed with the quality, but I can’t really complain too much, it’s simply a decent grill for adequate price.
The foldable stand is a very good solution when it comes to transport or convenient storage of the grill in a closet when not in use. I mostly recommend this model to those who travel but it will also work great in small backyards where you need something smaller and mobile.
4. Char-Griller 3001 Grillin' Pro
It's a great choice for a bigger family, you have a lot of space to prepare and grill your food.
Two side shelves, one of them with a hidden burner.
A very big grilling space, by which I mean 438 square inches of the main cooking space plus a warming rack with 192 square inches.
The Char-Griller 3001 Grillin' Pro is equipped with 3 burners that allow to get the right temperature fast.
The cast-iron grates are coated with porcelain, which prevents corrosion and makes cleaning easy.
Here's my tip, remember not to clean it with metal scrappers, use a soft bristle grill brush. Not to mention they prevent food from sticking, which is very useful when grilling.
It's a grill made of steel, painted using the powder coating. It has two big wheels that allow to easily move the barbeque around if necessary.
Unfortunately, many people complain about poor quality of of the material the wheels were made of. But it's the kind of flaw that doesn't cause trouble when grilling.
Another downside is a little bit difficult access to the propane tank.
To sum it up, it's a nice gas grill for under $300.
Its main advantages are big cooking area and that it heats up fast.
It has several structural flaws that I mentioned earlier. However, taking the price and other things into account - I can easily recommend this option to those who want to buy a cheap and decent grill.
As you can see, within the price range of less than $300 you can still buy interesting gas grills.
In that case, however, you already need to get prepared for a bigger number of compromises the manufacturers will have to make. I’m mostly talking about the quality of materials which is very hard to come by at this price range.
Of course a lot also depends on the size of the grill which is why travelers certainly have nothing to complain about, as they need something mobile. For them, there are as many as two high-quality models that will also work great as stationary grills.
Sadly, though, at this price range there’s no point expecting a solid manufacturer’s warranty, with few exceptions ( Weber Q2200 for example ). When buying a cheap gas grill, you agree to the risk of small flaws being present.
I have conducted extensive research and was able to find as many as 4 worthy models, two of which left a very positive impression on me ( Weber Q2200 and Char-Broil Performance 300 ).
Both models stand out among others with great efficiency, durability and decent warranty. Sadly, a downside might be their size not being quite large, but that’s one of the compromises I mentioned earlier.

What to pay attention to in a Gas Grill below $300 ?
Size – First and foremost, specify how much capacity you expect, think about how many people you cook for. At this price I’d suggest to buy a slightly smaller yet much better made grill. Sadly, for this kind of money you can’t buy a solid and big gas grill. You have to choose what matters more to you, quality or large capacity.
Mobility – The best models are those designed with people who travel in mind. Their upside is the mobility as well as that they also work great as a stationary grill. If you have a small backyard and travel a lot then such solution might be very beneficial for you.
Warranty – Sadly, at this price range it’s hard to get a decent warranty. The exception is the Weber Q2200 model, which is covered with whole 5 years of warranty. The rest of them sadly is not inviting in this regard and I’m not surprised in the slightest. For this kind of money it’s hard to make a grill that will be efficient and very durable at the same time. If you’re looking for both, then you are sadly going to have to increase your budget significantly and buy high quality gas grill.
Design – It is not the most important matter, but it’s a good idea to pay attention to the construction of your grill. Plenty of manufacturers cut corners on that which results in a grill that not only looks bad but also has plenty of flaws. It is the best for the grill’s construction to be simple and functional, without unnecessary frills.
Don’t expect additional features or gadgets, at this price range it is simply not possible. The manufacturers had to focus on efficiency and quality, so there is no place here for any unnecessary gadgets that only raise the price significantly.
